In 2009, Siegfried was engaged to deliver comprehensive civil engineering improvement plans for the design and construction of the Sutter Gould Stockton Medical Campus. This significant project was situated on a parcel that underwent rezoning from residential to commercial, reflecting a major shift in its intended use and scale.
The development was executed in a carefully structured phased approach to accommodate Sutter’s evolving needs of the medical campus. The first phase involved the design and construction of a 40,000 square foot medical office building, establishing the foundational infrastructure for the campus. Following this, a second medical office building was constructed to expand the campus’s medical services. The final components of this phase included the development of an MRI imaging center and an OSHPD-rated Ambulatory Surgery Center, each requiring specialized design considerations to meet stringent healthcare facility standards.
Siegfried played a crucial role in all aspects of master planning and site planning for the campus. Our team was responsible for a range of site work activities, including extensive mass grading to prepare the land for construction, the design and implementation of parking lots to accommodate the growing number of visitors and staff, and the creation of a bio-retention swale for effective stormwater management. This swale was designed to handle and filter stormwater runoff, contributing to environmental sustainability and compliance with local regulations.
Given the project’s specific zoning criteria, additional stormwater detention features were incorporated into the design to manage runoff effectively and meet regulatory requirements. This was essential for ensuring that this Sutter campus adhered to zoning guidelines while maintaining environmental stewardship.
As per Siegfried’s master plan, the final phase of the development is strategically set up to support the future construction of a full Sutter Gould hospital. This forward-thinking approach ensures that the campus is poised for further expansion, reflecting our commitment to long-term planning and the evolving needs of the medical community. Overall, Siegfried’s involvement in the Sutter Gould Stockton Medical Campus exemplifies our ability to manage complex projects with a focus on both immediate and future requirements.
