Riverbank Unified School District selected our team for the design, construction documentation, DSA services, and construction administration for their track renovation project. The goals of this project consisted of renovating the existing cinder fine track with a new all-weather track, security fencing, a complete drainage system, underground detention chambers, ADA pathways, parking, and restroom upgrades.
For this project, we utilized our “IWE” Interactive workshop environment that allowed us to directly interact and communicate with the district stakeholders to solicit programming requirements and consensus in design among the user groups. With our staff consisting of former track and field coaches and athletes, we understand the intricacies of track and field that can only be taught through experience and believe it is very important to directly collaborate with the coaches, athletic directors, and district administrators on how they directly use their facility. With this collaborative process, we were able to reach a preferred concept within a series of two short meetings.
During the design process, we also provided an education session on the various levels and styles of all-weather track surfacing. Having run and competed on these various levels of all-weather track surfacing, our staff broke down in detail the overall performance characteristics of each surface, as well as the maintenance requirements and overall cost of each in order to enhance and ensure the longevity of the track so that it may be used for many generations to come.
