Located on the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) campus, this 3-story, 22,000 square foot hotel-type facility includes 60 guest rooms with 1 or 2 beds in each and 3 different room designs. The goal was to provide convenient and affordable housing for faculty, post-doctoral associates, students, and other visitors to LBNL. Siegfried provided civil engineering and surveying services for this design-build guest house which sits atop a hillside on the lab campus. The facility includes accessory spaces such as a fitness room, lounge, and group meeting rooms. The design concept was to create an efficient plan to meet the project budget while maximizing views of natural light and existing site features; such as specimen trees and hillside landscapes.
