Siegfried played a key role in the development of the $33 million Language Arts Building at Evergreen Valley College, providing expertise in civil engineering, surveying, and landscape architecture. The three-story, 60,000 square foot building is located on the north side of the central green and features a new lecture hall accessible for both day and night use, serving as a central hub for the entire campus.
The strategic placement of the Language Arts Building enhances pedestrian connectivity, linking the central green, student parking lots to the north, the future Student Services Complex, and other campus amenities. Committed to sustainability, the project was designed and constructed in accordance with LEED Gold standards, serving as an inspiring example for students and faculty and showcasing environmentally responsible practices for the campus and community.
Adopting a design-build delivery approach, our project team effectively engaged subcontractors during the design and preconstruction phases. This facilitated a comprehensive review process, enabling timely recommendations to align with the project’s goals in a cost-effective manner. To manage costs, an incremental review process through the Division of the State Architect (DSA) was implemented, supporting critical activities during the initial construction phase.
As a campus focal point, the adjacent pond with duck habitat presented a unique landscape challenge. Siegfried designed a natural pathway from the nearby duck pond that blended seamlessly with the landscape, protecting the ducks’ natural movement and habitat while limiting damage from the ducks to the project.
