Siegfried provided civil engineering and landscape architecture services for California State University, Sacramento’s University Union Expansion Project. This project consists of constructing a new 83,000 gsf expansion of the University Union building, near the center of the campus. The new building houses meeting rooms, food service, recreation space, and other support spaces. It is three stories, expanding the north side of the Union.
The new addition will require the demolition of a significant part of the existing structure and the integration of the new expansion into the old structure. The project will also require integration into the existing site that currently fronts an alley and an aging engineering building. The challenge for the site component of the project is to not only integrate it into the existing conditions but also into the master plan that reflects the north side of the Union being a large central open area of the campus.
