The storied Sacramento State baseball and softball program had been in need of a field to support their Division I status. After an initial renovation that left the fields in less than ideal playing conditions, Siegfried was consulted to rectify the problems created and design the fields to match the caliber of play of the student athletes.
The field had been completely regraded and a storm drain system had been designed to create a level, predictable playing surface. The soil profile had been amended to allow for quick, reliable drainage during rain events and to better support the season-specific grasses. Not only has the fields been brought to a competitive level of play, on par with professional fields, but it also dramatically reduces the potential for injury.
Concurrently to the renovation and remediation of a baseball field, Siegfried was hired to renovate the aging softball field and bring it to NCAA Division 1 standards, comparable to the baseball field.
