We were hired by the City of El Cerrito to complete the renovation of the Castro Park Multi-Use baseball field. Unlike a traditional park that is only heavily used in the afternoons and weekends, Castro Park is used all day. The adjoining school uses the facility for its physical education and after school programs, while the City has its traditional afternoon and weekend heavy use periods. With such heavy use, the city was unable to maintain the existing living turf profile and hired our team to design a facility capable of withstanding the amount of use the facility receives. Our team conducted multiple community meetings with the user groups and facility use audits to determine the specific requirements of the facility and living turf profiles capable of withstanding the cities use requirements. Overall Siegfried provided full design, public outreach, construction documentation, and construction administration services.
