Siegfried is providing on-call civil and structural engineering and landscape architecture services for the City of Palo Alto’s Regional Water Quality Control Plant (RWQCP). This control plant is a tertiary treatment facility with an average annual flow capacity of 39 million gallons per day. The main liquid treatment process consists of bar screens, lift pumps, primary sedimentation tanks, fixed-film reactors, aeration basins, secondary clarifiers, dual media filtration, and UV disinfection. The solids treatment process is comprised of gravity sludge thickeners, pumping, belt filter presses, conveyors, multiple hearth incineration, and related air pollution control. As this is an on-call, the scope of services for each project will vary. However, work assignments may include, performing investigations and developing engineering calculations pertaining to plant equipment and structures, the review of existing facilities and plant processes, emergency response, observation, and management of potential plant modifications, and assisting in developing compliance actions to meet emerging regulations.
