After a city-wide synthetic turf feasibility assessment, the City of San Mateo chose to renovate the heavily-used, Los Prados Park – with 210,000 square feet of multi-use living turf field with synthetic turf. The existing park consisted of a multi-use living turf soccer field, overlaid with a baseball and little league field.
The City hired Siegfried to provide athletic facility design services, civil engineering, and landscape architecture documentation. The services provided for Los Prados Park included a multi-use synthetic turf field with U10, U12, and U18 soccer fields, synthetic turf Little league and baseball infields, existing backstop modifications with new dugouts, existing ADA pathway and parking lot remediation and surfacing, fencing, drainage, landscape, and irrigation design. Siegfried also provided full C3, survey, and SWPPP documentation. Our vast experience in over 100 synthetic turf projects allowed us to present the city with the positives and negatives of each option, along with their estimated cost differences in order to select the most sustainable and cost-effective turf for the community.
